CHIEF’S REPORT

May 2008

 

 

CALL VOLUME

The District responded to 68 calls during the month for a corrected year –to-date total of 401 calls for assistance.  Station break down is as follows:   Station 21; 32 calls and 36 calls for Station 22.  There was 1 call to Olympic National Park for a year-to-date total of 3 and 6 calls to the Lower Elwha Reservation for a year-to-date total of 25.  The District provided mutual aid 4 times during the month for a year-to-date total of 16.  Mutual aid was provided to the following agencies:  Port Angeles – 3, ONP – 1, CCFD4 – 0, and CCFD3 – 0.  The District received mutual aid 1 time during the month for a year-to-date total of 7.  There were 0 transports by the District; M-21 –05, M-22 –0 for a year to date total of 16. 4  Station 11 volunteers responded 5 times to District 2 calls during the month.

 

STATIONS & EQUIPMENT

Old Engine 21 has arrived in Titus, Alabama Fire Department.  The Titus Chief reported that they are extremely happy with the apparatus and SCBAs.

 

Utility 23 (1990 GMC) was sold to Clallam County Fire District 5 at Clallam Bay for $1,750.  With the vehicle went 3800 feet of 1 ˝” hose and 7 mobile radios.

 

Installation of Station 21 side sewer and connection by Dana Kuchan is yet to be completed.  The prime contractor has resumed work on the project.  The prime contractor is now working on 3rd Avenue in Gales Addition which means we are getting closer to being able to complete the Station 21 hook up to the new sewer system.

 

Deputy Chief Oakes has sold ten of the surplus SCBA units to the Big Horn Fire Department near Bozeman Montana for $115.00 each.  That brings the total of sold units to 20. 

 

14 of the surplus Minitor III pagers were transferred to PA Fire.  PA Fire will be transferring 2500 feet of 3” hose to the District for use on Engines 21 and 22.

 

OPERATIONS

A total of 5 Land Clearing Permits were issued during the month for a total of 20 for the year.  Thirty-three residential Permits were issued for a total of 98 for the year.

TRAINING

No report

 

DISTRICT/COUNTY/CITY

Five Station 11 volunteers responded 7 times to District 2 incidents.

 

PUBLIC EDUCATION

John Skow coordinated the District’s participation in the annual Kids Safety Day.  District 2 volunteers who assisted included Kelsey DeRousie, Nikki Delaney, and Earl Noonan.  Thank you all.

 

 PERSONNEL

Long time Paramedic and District 2 volunteer Larry Bradbury has retired as of June 1, 2008 after 22 years of service to the District and community.  We wish Brad the best in his retirement and thank him for his tireless service
